Child life specialists are pros at incorporating medical play into fun activities. In this video, our friends at Child Life On Call share the idea of using cotton swabs and medicine cups for a fun spring craft with kids!

What you’ll need:

• Paper (colored construction paper works best)
• Scissors
• Glue or glue stick
• Paint (3 or more colors is ideal)
• Cotton Swabs
• Medicine Cups

First, cut your flowerpot shape! We made a simple pink trapezoid and glued it to the bottom of a blue background, but feel free to get as creative as you’d like!

Next, pour your paint colors into the medicine cups. Then grab a cotton swab and start painting! We painted some green stems and yellow circles (for the inside of our flower). For the petals, we used the cotton swabs to make dots of several different colors.

You may need to trust the process a bit, but we think you’ll love the results!
