Targeted Praise
Targeted praise helps reinforce positive coping skills and allows children to recognize their strengths and control during difficult procedures.
Targeted praise:
- Acknowledges children's efforts and the courage it takes to cooperate. It also prepares them for future procedures that they may experience.
- Can be modified for any age range so that all children feel supported.
Examples of targeted praise:
“I saw how bravely you stayed still on the bed.”
“You did a great job telling us how you feel.”
